Description

The Melden is a 140cm linear crystal chandelier built around a polished chrome rectangular frame housing eleven G9 bulb fittings surrounded by densely-packed faceted crystal blocks. Each crystal is cut to catch and refract light from the central bulbs, creating a multi-directional sparkle across the full 140cm length of the fixture.

Designed for kitchen islands measuring 2-3m in length or rectangular dining tables seating 8-10, the Melden provides both direct task lighting and decorative presence overhead. The 140cm span centres well over long surfaces, and the 37cm projection from ceiling to base of the crystals suits rooms with ceiling heights of 2.5m or above. The eleven G9 fittings distribute light evenly along the length, avoiding dark spots at the ends that single-source pendants create over long tables.

The polished chrome frame reflects surrounding light and pairs cleanly with stainless steel appliances, chrome tap fittings and contemporary hardware finishes. The crystal blocks are arranged in rows within the rectangular cage, creating a textured curtain effect when viewed from the side and a uniform geometric grid when viewed from below. At 13.5kg the fitting requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or ceiling rose rated for the combined weight of frame, crystals and bulbs.

The fitting takes eleven G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED bulbs in 3W-5W output and 2700K-3000K colour temperature for warm light that complements the crystal. G9 halogen bulbs are also compatible but generate more heat.

What length kitchen island or dining table does this suit?

The 140cm length works well over kitchen islands measuring 2-3m or rectangular dining tables seating 8-10. For shorter islands or tables under 2m, the Melden may visually dominate the space. For islands longer than 3m, consider pairing two smaller pendants instead.

How is the drop height adjusted?

The suspension cables can typically be shortened during installation by coiling excess cable inside the ceiling canopy. The ideal height positions the base of the crystals 700-900mm above a worktop or dining surface, depending on ceiling height and sightlines across the room.

How are the crystals cleaned?

Switch off the power and allow bulbs to cool. Wipe each crystal block with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the chrome frame or getting moisture into the bulb sockets.
