Description

The Citronic CX23 is an active crossover that splits your audio signal so each amplifier gets the frequency band it handles best. Run it as a 2-way stereo unit or a 3-way mono unit, sending low frequencies to the amp driving your sub cabinets and mid and top frequencies to the amp driving your mid and top cabs. This approach is more efficient than passive crossovers and gives you more accurate sound, which matters most in larger PA systems.

Filtering is handled by Butterworth filters with an 18dB per octave slope, and the cutoff frequencies are continuously adjustable so you can tune each band to suit your rig. In stereo mode you have crossover ranges of 50Hz to 5kHz and 750Hz to 7.5kHz, with a third band of 2kHz to 20kHz added in mono mode. A 40Hz ultra-low frequency cut helps keep sub-sonic rumble out of your system, and a phase invert function lets you correct timing between drivers.

All inputs and outputs are on balanced XLR connectors, with input impedance of 40k ohms balanced or 20k ohms unbalanced and an output impedance of 220 ohms. Frequency response runs from 20Hz to 25kHz within +0/-1dB, with a signal to noise ratio greater than 90dB and THD of just 0.006%. The unit fits a standard 19-inch rack, measures 482 x 44 x 170mm and weighs 2.5kg. Power comes from a 115/230Vac IEC supply at 50/60Hz.

Frequently Asked

Can the CX23 run in both stereo and mono?

Yes. It works as a 2-way stereo crossover or a 3-way mono crossover, so you can set it up to match your amp and speaker layout.

What filter type and slope does it use?

It uses Butterworth filters with an 18dB per octave slope, giving a clean split between frequency bands.

Are the crossover points fixed?

No. The cutoff frequencies are continuously adjustable across the ranges given in the specs, so you can tune each band to your cabinets.

What connectors does it use?

Inputs and outputs are all on balanced XLR connectors.

Will it fit a standard rack?

Yes. It is 19-inch rack mountable and takes up 1U of rack space at 482 x 44 x 170mm.

What is the phase invert function for?

It lets you flip the phase of an output to correct timing issues between drivers and keep them working together.
