Description

This is a retro-style guitar lead (or guitar cable, as it's often called in the US) built for instruments and audio gear running unbalanced signals. The nylon braid on the outside does two jobs: it gives the cable a classic look in black and red, and it helps stop the lead tangling when you coil it or drag it across a stage. Inside, the conductors are pure copper with cotton reinforcement, so the cable holds up to regular handling without kinking.

Both ends fit a straight 6.3mm mono jack plug, the standard quarter-inch (1/4") connector you'll find on electric guitars, basses, amplifiers and plenty of audio equipment. The plugs are professional die-cast metal, and the connections are machine-soldered for consistency. A soft-grip rubberised jacket sits under the braid, giving you something comfortable to hold and adding a bit more anti-tangle behaviour to the whole run.

We stock this lead in a 6.0m length, which suits players who move around or need room between their instrument and amp. There's also a 3.0m version if you want something shorter for a compact setup or studio use. The cable measures 6.6mm across, with a 13-strand, 0.12mm pure copper conductor carrying the signal. If you're after a workhorse instrument lead that looks the part and won't turn into a knot every time you pack down, this covers the basics well.

Frequently Asked

What connectors does this lead use?

Both ends have a straight 6.3mm (quarter-inch) mono jack plug, the standard connector for electric guitars, basses and amplifiers.

Is this a balanced or unbalanced cable?

It's an unbalanced lead, which is what guitars and most instrument-level signals use. It isn't intended for balanced audio runs.

What lengths are available?

This listing is the 6.0m version. We also offer a shorter 3.0m length for smaller setups and studio work.

Does the braid really help with tangling?

Yes. The nylon braid and the rubberised jacket beneath it both resist tangling, so the lead is easier to coil and store.

What are the conductors made from?

Pure copper, with a 13-strand, 0.12mm build and cotton reinforcement for added durability inside the cable.

Can I use this with audio equipment as well as guitars?

Yes. It works for guitars, basses and other instruments, plus general audio gear that takes a 6.3mm mono jack.
