Description

The Chord TD6-SV is a small steel tongue drum with eight tuned tongues cut into lotus petal shapes on the top surface. Each tongue is numbered by note, so you can follow along whether you play with your fingers or the supplied sticks. The tongues are tuned to a major scale, which keeps everything sounding pleasant even if you're just tapping about with no plan in mind.

At 90mm tall and 150mm in diameter, and weighing 570g, this is a compact drum that sits comfortably in your lap or on a table. It comes finished in silver. Steel tongue drums (sometimes called tank drums or hank drums) work by vibrating the cut tongues when struck, giving a soft, ringing tone that carries well without being harsh. The lotus petal layout groups the notes in a way that's easy to reach across.

We supply the TD6-SV with a pair of playing sticks and thimbles for finger playing, along with a drawstring bag for storage and carrying. A beginner's guide is included too, so you have a starting point if this is your first tongue drum. It's a sensible choice for educational settings, meditation groups and music therapy work, where the numbered notes and forgiving tuning make it approachable for people of all ages and abilities.
