Description
The Chord NU1-N is a UHF wireless microphone system built around a fixed-frequency beltpack transmitter and a half rack-width receiver. It runs on 864.1MHz, which is licence free in the UK and EU, so you can set it up and use it straight away without applying for permission. The system comes with a choice of neckband or lavalier microphone (a lavalier is the small clip-on mic you'll often hear called a lapel mic), giving you a hands-free option for presenting, teaching or performing.
To keep the signal stable, the receiver uses a pilot tone and mute circuit that cuts unwanted noise when the transmitter is off or out of range. The working range is up to 60m, with a signal to noise ratio above 105dB and THD under 0.5% at 1kHz, so speech and vocals come through clean. Frequency response covers 50Hz to 18kHz, and the balanced output sits at 400mV, with an unbalanced level of 200mV and a 2.2k Ohm output impedance for connecting into a mixer or amplifier.
The receiver measures 44 x 198 x 190mm and weighs 710g. It's supplied with rack ears and front-mounting antenna accessories, so you can fit it into a standard 19-inch rack alongside your other gear. Power comes from the included mains adaptor (12-18Vdc, 350mA), while the transmitter runs on 2 x AA batteries, also supplied. The transmitter measures 205 x 68 x 25mm and weighs 76g without a battery, keeping it light enough to wear comfortably on a belt or waistband.
