Description

The Chord NU1-N is a wireless microphone system built around a fixed UHF beltpack transmitter and a half rack-width receiver. It operates at 863.1MHz, which is licence free in both the UK and EU, so you can run it without paying for a spectrum permit. A pilot tone and mute circuit keep the signal stable and cut out unwanted noise when the transmitter is switched off or moves out of range.

You get a choice of microphone with the system: a neckband mic or a lavalier (also called a lapel or tie-clip mic). Both plug into the beltpack transmitter, which measures 205 x 68 x 25mm and weighs 76g without its battery. Power for the transmitter comes from 2 x AA batteries, included in the box. The receiver runs from the supplied mains adaptor (12-18Vdc, 350mA) and gives a working range of around 60m in typical conditions.

The receiver unit measures 44 x 198 x 190mm and weighs 710g, and it fits standard 19" racks using the rack ears and front-mounting aerial (antenna) accessories that come as part of the package. On the audio side you get a signal to noise ratio of more than 105dB, THD below 0.5% at 1kHz and a frequency response of 50Hz to 18kHz ±1dB. Output is 400mV balanced or 200mV unbalanced, with a 2.2k Ohm output impedance. It suits presentations, houses of worship, small stages and any setting where you want hands-free wireless audio.
