Description

The Chord MBA2 is a telescopic boom arm that adds reach and angle to a straight microphone stand. It fits a standard 3/8" thread at the base, so you can mount it to most stands or clamps and swing the microphone into position over a desk, drum kit or amp. The angle at the base is adjustable, which lets you set the boom high or low and lock it where you need it.

The boom itself extends by telescoping, running from 510mm retracted to 890mm fully extended. That range covers close overhead placement as well as longer reaches when you want the stand base kept out of the way. At the microphone end you get a fitting with both 3/8" and 5/8" adaptors, so most microphone clips (US: mic clips) will thread straight on without extra parts.

At 620g the MBA2 is light enough to carry between sessions but has enough weight to hold a positioned microphone steady. The base measures 50 x 130mm across, and the whole arm keeps to a slim profile so it packs down with the rest of your gear. It works well as a straightforward upgrade for anyone with a plain vertical stand who wants proper boom positioning for vocals, instruments or spoken word recording.
