Description

The AV:Link DAC7 takes a digital audio signal and turns it into an analogue one, so you can connect gear that only offers digital output to speakers or headphones that expect standard analogue inputs. It accepts either optical (Toslink) or coaxial digital signals and gives you both RCA (L/R) phono outputs and a 3.5mm headphone jack, sometimes called a headphone socket. That covers most of the common connection needs in one small box.

We designed it for situations where a games console, LED TV, projector or Blu-ray player has no RCA or 3.5mm output of its own. It handles a 24-bit S/PDIF incoming bit stream across the left and right channels, and supports sampling rates of 32, 44.1, 48 and 96 KHz. Setup is plug and play, with instant synchronisation and no delay, so you simply connect your source, connect your output and go.

Power comes from USB, and a USB power lead is supplied in the box. The unit runs on DC 5V through a micro USB input, which means you can draw power from a nearby TV, wall adaptor or similar port rather than needing a separate mains supply. At 62 x 45 x 20mm and 65g it is small and light enough to sit tucked behind your equipment. It is a handy little device for adding analogue audio to kit that was never built to provide it, without any complicated configuration.
