Description

The Adastra PS50-W is a pendant speaker built for rooms with high ceilings, where a standard flush ceiling speaker would sit too far from the audience to work well. It hangs from the supplied 4.5m cable and cable hook, bringing the sound closer to where people actually are. The spheroid two-way design gives wide dispersion, so coverage stays even across a broad area rather than firing straight down in a narrow beam.

Each unit has a rotary selector on top for choosing between four 100V line tappings or 8 ohm operation. The 100V line option (known as constant-voltage or high-impedance in the US) lets you run several speakers from one amplifier and set the volume of each to suit the space. The 8 ohm setting suits smaller low-impedance setups. The 12.5cm (5 inch) driver and white finish are meant to sit quietly in most commercial ceilings without drawing attention.

This model works well in shops, atriums, foyers, sports halls and other spaces where the ceiling is out of reach for conventional installation. The wide angle version is the better choice when you need to fill a wider footprint from fewer points. Wiring is straightforward: run your 100V line through the cable, set the tapping you want on the top-mounted switch, and hang the speaker at the height that gives you the coverage you need.

Frequently Asked

Why choose a pendant speaker over a ceiling speaker?

Pendant speakers hang down from the ceiling on a cable, so they suit rooms with high or open ceilings where a flush-mounted ceiling speaker would be too far from listeners to work efficiently.

What is the difference between 100V line and 8 ohm operation?

100V line (high-impedance) lets you run many speakers from one amplifier with individual volume set per unit. 8 ohm (low-impedance) suits smaller systems with fewer speakers on a standard amplifier.

How do I set the volume tapping?

There is a rotary switch on top of the speaker. Turn it to select one of the four 100V line tappings or the 8 ohm setting to match your system and required output.

How is the speaker hung?

It comes with a 4.5m cable and a cable hook for hanging, so you can suspend it at the height that gives the coverage you need.

What does wide angle mean here?

The wide angle version has broader sound dispersion, so it covers a larger floor area from each speaker. This is useful when you want to fill a wide space using fewer units.
