Pairing polished chrome with handles and taps

Polished chrome reads as a bright, reflective metal, so it sits naturally alongside chrome cabinet handles, mixer taps and towel rails. In a kitchen, a row of chrome sockets above the worktop picks up the same tone as the tap and pull handles, which keeps the metalwork looking deliberate rather than mismatched. The screwless plates we stock keep the front face smooth, with no visible screw heads to break up the finish.

If your fittings are a softer or warmer metal, brushed chrome is worth a look too. It has a finer satin grain that reads less mirror-like than the polished version, though this range is almost entirely the brighter polished finish.

Keeping fingermarks down

A mirror-bright surface shows touch marks more readily than a matt one, which is the main thing to plan around with polished chrome. Two choices help. First, fit switches and sockets where hands tend not to drag across the plate, and reach for the rocker or socket switch rather than the surround. Second, the inserts do the day-to-day work: white, black or grey insert options take the wear around the switch and outlet, so the chrome border stays cleaner for longer. A quick wipe with a dry microfibre cloth lifts marks without leaving streaks.

What the range covers

The line runs well beyond standard sockets. We stock 13A single and double sockets, including switched versions with built-in USB-A and USB-C charging, plus 10AX light switches in one, two, three, four and six gang with two-way and intermediate options. There are also intelligent dimmers rated 10-200W (5-150W for LED loads), 45A cooker switches, fused spur units, shaver sockets, fan isolators, key card switches and TV, SAT, telephone and BT outlets, all in the matching screwless polished chrome finish.

Fitting notes

Many of these accessories connect to fixed mains wiring, so always have a qualified electrician carry out the installation. That applies to like-for-like plate swaps on an existing back box as much as to any change of accessory type or circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will polished chrome match my brushed chrome taps and handles?

Not exactly. Polished chrome is mirror-bright, while brushed chrome has a finer satin grain, so the two finishes will look slightly different side by side. If your taps and handles are brushed, this range is almost entirely polished, so expect a brighter, more reflective look beside them. If they are bright polished chrome, the polished plates will sit very close in tone.

Do polished chrome plates show fingerprints?

A bright reflective surface does show touch marks more than a matt finish. In practice the white, black or grey inserts take most of the contact around the switch or outlet, so the chrome border stays cleaner. A dry microfibre cloth lifts marks easily, and fitting accessories away from spots where hands drag across the plate helps keep them looking sharp.

What insert colours can I choose?

Across this range the inserts come in white, black and grey. White is the most neutral and tends to disappear against lighter walls, black gives more contrast and a darker centre, and grey sits between the two. The insert is the part around the switch or socket holes, while the polished chrome plate stays the same, so you can pick the insert that best suits your wall.

Can I get USB charging in the polished chrome finish?

Yes. We stock switched 13A sockets with built-in USB charging in polished chrome, including options with USB-A ports and combined USB-A and USB-C ports. There are also dedicated quad USB charger outlets. These let you charge phones and tablets directly from the wall without a separate plug adaptor, all in the matching screwless polished chrome plate.

Are these switches and sockets straightforward to install?

Most connect to fixed mains wiring, so we recommend a qualified electrician fits them. That applies to like-for-like replacements on an existing back box as much as to changes of accessory type or circuit, since all of it involves fixed wiring. That keeps the work safe and the finished plate sitting flush on the wall.
