Description

The Knightsbridge SF7400PC is a BT-compatible telephone extension socket with a polished chrome screwless faceplate and screw terminals. The socket extends a phone line from an existing master socket to create secondary connection points elsewhere in the building, allowing additional landline phones, fax machines or dial-up modems to operate from the same line.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum depth back box and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The built-in gasket provides a sealed edge between the faceplate and wall, preventing dust ingress behind the plate.

The 201 stainless steel construction with polished chrome finish provides a bright metallic accent that pairs well with contemporary and modern interiors. The 87.5mm square footprint matches the standard UK single-gang faceplate size, so the telephone socket aligns with other switches and sockets in the same room. Certified to BS 5733 for telecommunications accessories, the socket includes screw terminals for solid-core telephone cable and a built-in surge suppression capacitor to protect connected equipment.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between a master socket and an extension socket?

A master socket connects directly to the incoming telephone line from the network. An extension socket connects to the master socket via internal wiring and allows additional phones to be plugged in at other locations in the building. You can have multiple extension sockets on the same line, but only one master socket per line.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a low-profile finish.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this socket style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
