Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer supports loads of 10-200W for incandescent and halogen bulbs, or 5-150W for LED lighting. The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes using a front-mounted control knob, allowing it to pair with different lamp technologies without requiring back-box access or rewiring. Each gang operates independently with rotary dimming and push on/off action.

Designed for residential and hospitality installations where lighting levels need regular adjustment, the dimmer suits dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and hotel guest rooms. The 2-way configuration allows control from two different wall locations, making it suitable for stairwells, long corridors and rooms with multiple entry points. The screwless polished chrome faceplate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, hiding all fixings for a clean wall finish.

The dimmer is preset to trailing-edge mode on installation, which suits most modern LED and CFL dimmable bulbs. If the connected bulbs flicker or fail to dim smoothly, the mode can be switched to leading-edge using the front control knob without removing the faceplate. The dimmer includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter that prevents nuisance tripping when high-surge bulbs are first switched on. The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like reflective surface that pairs with traditional, classical and polished metal interior schemes.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode suits most modern dimmable LED and CFL bulbs and is quieter in operation. Leading-edge mode suits older incandescent, halogen and some magnetic transformer-fed low-voltage lighting. The dimmer is preset to trailing-edge but can be switched using the front control knob if bulbs flicker or fail to dim smoothly.

Can I mix different bulb types on the same gang?

No. Each gang should control bulbs of the same brand, type and wattage. Mixing different bulb technologies or wattages on a single dimmer gang can cause flickering, premature bulb failure or inconsistent dimming behaviour.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The screwless faceplate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall, with 21.3mm of the mechanism recessed into the back box.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The polished chrome cover plate clips onto a metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the dimmer and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
