High-output retrofits for large fittings
Corn lamps earn their name from the rows of LEDs arranged around the body, which spread light in close to every direction rather than a single beam. That makes them a practical swap for the bulky high-wattage lamps found in warehouses, car parks, sports halls and outdoor lanterns. Our Knightsbridge range runs from compact 12W lamps up to a 54W unit rated at 6870 lumens, so you can match the output to the fitting rather than over- or under-lighting the space. Every lamp in our range is 4000K cool white, a neutral tone that keeps signage, stock and work areas clearly lit.
E27 and E40 caps
Cap choice comes down to the holder already fitted. E27 is the standard screw cap used across many commercial and domestic fittings, and most of our corn lamps use it. E40 is the larger Goliath screw cap built for industrial and exterior heads, and we stock corn lamps in this size for high-bay and lantern bodies that take it. Check the existing lamp or holder before ordering, as the two caps are not interchangeable without an adaptor.
Build and output
Some of these lamps use aluminium and polycarbonate bodies, with the metal helping to draw heat away from the LEDs across long running hours. Output spans from 1695 lumens on the 12W lamp through to 6870 lumens on the 54W version, with some sitting in the 1500 lumen-plus band. The 18W and 27W lamps cover the gap in between. As a rough guide, the smaller lamps in our range stand in for older 100W-equivalent fittings, while the higher-wattage corn lamps deliver far more light for larger fittings.
Dimming and fitting
The corn lamps we stock are non-dimmable, so they are best paired with a plain on/off switch rather than a dimmer circuit. Many large fittings are wired into fixed circuits or sit at height, so we would always recommend a qualified electrician for any work involving fixed wiring, access equipment or enclosed luminaires.
