Description

The Knightsbridge NCLB12 is a 2ft (653mm) single-tube non-corrosive batten fitting rated IP65 for dust-tight and water-jet-protected installation. The grey polycarbonate body and prismatic polycarbonate diffuser enclose a pre-wired T8 lampholder designed for self-ballasted LED tubes. Unlike traditional fluorescent battens, this fitting has no ballast or driver inside, so it requires a dedicated T8 LED tube with an integrated driver to function.

Designed for industrial, commercial and agricultural environments where moisture, dust and impact are concerns, the IP65 rating allows the fitting to be installed in wash-down areas, cold stores, agricultural sheds, garages and covered outdoor canopies. The polycarbonate body resists impact and corrosion better than steel or aluminium enclosures in damp or chemically aggressive atmospheres. The fitting is supplied pre-wired with two clip-in endcaps that hold the tube securely once inserted.

The 653mm overall length and 94mm width give the batten a compact profile suitable for ceiling and wall mounting in confined spaces. The prismatic diffuser spreads the light output from the tube across a wider angle than a clear cover would, reducing glare and hot-spots on work surfaces below. The fitting carries a Class I earth connection and a 3-year warranty. T8 LED tubes are sold separately and must be self-ballasted types compatible with direct mains connection.

What type of LED tube does this fitting require?

The NCLB12 is pre-wired for self-ballasted T8 LED tubes that connect directly to 230V mains. These tubes have the driver built into the tube itself. Standard fluorescent T8 tubes and LED tubes designed for use with external ballasts will not work in this fitting. The tube is sold separately.

What does IP65 mean in practice?

IP65 means the fitting is dust-tight (no ingress of dust) and protected against water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for wash-down areas, damp workshops, cold stores, covered outdoor canopies and agricultural buildings. It is not submersible and should not be used in locations where it would be fully immersed in water.

Can this be dimmed?

Dimming capability depends entirely on the T8 LED tube you install. Some self-ballasted T8 LED tubes support dimming, while others do not. Check the tube specification before pairing with a dimmer circuit.

How is the diffuser removed for tube replacement?

The prismatic polycarbonate diffuser clips into the body and can be unclipped by hand to access the tube. No tools are required for routine tube replacement, though initial wiring installation requires a screwdriver to access the terminal block inside the fitting.
