Description
The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 2ft (653mm) non-corrosive batten light with integrated LED offering switchable output between 14W (2,100lm at 4000K) and 26W (3,955lm at 4000K), selectable colour temperature across 3000K, 4000K and 5700K via internal switches, and a built-in 3-hour self-test emergency backup powered by a LiFePO4 battery. The polycarbonate housing carries IP65 weatherproof and IK08 impact ratings, making it suitable for wet, dusty and exposed industrial environments where metal fittings would corrode.
Designed for commercial, industrial and agricultural installations including warehouses, workshops, car parks, cold stores, loading bays and outdoor walkways, the Torlan combines surface and suspension mounting options (suspension kit sold separately) in a single slimline unit. The emergency function operates in maintained, non-maintained or switched modes, allowing the fitting to serve as both normal working light and emergency egress illumination. The ability to switch both wattage and colour temperature on-site reduces stock complexity for contractors and installers working across multiple projects with different lumen and CCT requirements.
The grey polycarbonate body resists corrosion in coastal, chemical and high-humidity environments where aluminium or steel fittings would deteriorate. The opal diffuser is held by stainless steel clips that resist rust even in permanent outdoor exposure. The 130-degree beam angle provides wide-area coverage suitable for ceiling heights between 2.5m and 4m, with efficacy up to 169.9lm/W reducing running costs on large-scale installations. The fitting measures 653mm x 129mm x 90mm and requires direct connection to 230V 50Hz mains via Class I earthed installation.

Frequently Asked
How do I switch between 14W and 26W output?
Internal switches inside the housing allow the installer to select either 14W or 26W operation before final installation. The corresponding lumen output adjusts automatically — 14W provides 2,100lm at 4000K, while 26W provides 3,955lm at 4000K. This requires opening the diffuser during installation; the setting cannot be changed once the unit is sealed and mounted.
What colour temperature settings are available?
The Torlan offers three selectable colour temperatures via internal switches: 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white) and 5700K (cool white/daylight). The installer sets the desired CCT during installation to match the project specification or the client's preference for colour tone.
How does the emergency function work?
The built-in 3-hour emergency backup uses a LiFePO4 battery and self-test system. It can operate in maintained mode (always on, switching to battery during mains failure), non-maintained mode (off normally, activating only on mains failure) or switched mode (controlled by an external switch). In emergency mode the fitting outputs 315lm for egress lighting.
Can it be suspended from the ceiling rather than surface-mounted?
Yes, but suspension mounting requires an optional accessory kit (sold separately). The standard package includes fixings for surface mounting only. Contact us if you need suspension kits for your installation.
