Description

The AV:Link USB 3.0 Type-C to Type-A OTG adaptor converts a USB Type-C plug into a Type-A connection, enabling USB-C devices to connect to standard USB-A ports for data transfer and charging. The adaptor supports USB 3.0 data transfer speeds up to 5Gbps, allowing quick file transfers between smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers fitted with Type-A USB sockets.

Designed for on-the-go use, the adaptor measures 32 x 14 x 6mm and weighs 4g, making it small enough to carry in a laptop bag or pocket without bulk. The OTG (On-The-Go) specification allows compatible devices to act as either host or peripheral, so a smartphone can read data from a USB flash drive or external hard drive fitted with a Type-A plug when connected via this adaptor. The plug-and-play design requires no drivers on Windows, macOS, Linux or Android systems that support OTG.

The Type-C socket end accepts any standard USB-C plug, while the Type-A plug end fits any USB-A port including those found on older laptops, desktop PCs, car chargers and power banks. The compact plastic housing protects the internal contacts and provides strain relief where the cable enters each connector. The adaptor works with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, automatically negotiating the highest supported speed.

Frequently Asked

Does this adaptor support fast charging?

The adaptor passes through the power delivery capabilities of the USB-A port it's connected to. If the Type-A port supports higher current output (e.g. 2.4A or greater), the adaptor will pass that current to the connected USB-C device. It does not support USB-C Power Delivery fast charging protocols, which require a direct Type-C connection.

Will this work with USB-C to USB-C cables?

No. This adaptor has a Type-C socket and a Type-A plug, so it's designed to connect a USB-C device (or USB-C cable) to a Type-A port. To connect a USB-C device to another USB-C port, use a direct USB-C to USB-C cable instead.

What devices support OTG functionality?

Most modern Android smartphones and tablets support OTG, allowing them to act as a host and read data from USB storage devices, keyboards or other peripherals. Apple iOS devices do not support standard USB OTG. Check your device specifications or settings to confirm OTG support before use.

Is it compatible with USB 2.0 ports?

Yes. The adaptor works with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Type-A ports. When connected to a USB 2.0 port, data transfer speeds are limited to 480Mbps (USB 2.0 maximum) rather than the 5Gbps USB 3.0 speed.
