Description

The Calipso fluted cylinder wall sconce mounts a vertical aluminium tube with pronounced ribbed detailing onto a circular white wall plate. The cylinder houses two GU10 bulb fittings that direct light both upwards and downwards, creating accent washes on the wall above and below the fitting. The fluted outer surface catches and diffuses the light escaping through the open top and bottom of the cylinder.

Designed for hallways, staircases, feature walls and gallery-style lighting applications, the fitting works where ambient ceiling light needs supplementing with vertical wall accents. The 220-240V mains voltage GU10 fittings accept standard LED or halogen bulbs up to 10W per socket (bulbs sold separately). The IP20 rating limits use to dry interior spaces only.

The white powder-coated aluminium finish provides a neutral backdrop that pairs with both light and dark wall colours. The vertical ribbing adds texture and depth to what would otherwise read as a plain cylinder, and the ridges help break up any reflections from glossy wall paint. The circular wall plate measures approximately 100mm diameter, and the cylinder projects around 200mm from the wall when mounted.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes two GU10 bulbs, one facing upwards and one downwards. Maximum 10W per socket. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED GU10 bulbs between 4-6W for accent lighting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting has no protection against moisture and must only be used in dry interior spaces away from direct water contact.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is not rated as dimmable. If you wish to dim the light, you would need to use dimmable GU10 bulbs paired with a compatible dimmer switch, but this is not guaranteed to work reliably and is outside the manufacturer's specification.

How is the fluted cylinder cleaned?

Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust from the vertical ridges. For more stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth is acceptable, but ensure the fitting is switched off at the mains and avoid getting moisture into the top or bottom openings where the bulbs sit.
