Description

The Antic is a vertical wall light with two ribbed glass cylinders positioned above and below a central brushed gold sphere, mounted on a circular brushed gold backplate. Each glass cylinder houses a single G9 bulb (sold separately), providing bi-directional light output upwards and downwards along the wall.

Designed for hallways, bathrooms, and bedroom accent walls, the Antic provides ambient wash light across wall surfaces rather than directed task illumination. The vertical orientation suits narrower wall spaces such as corridor runs, either side of bathroom mirrors, or flanking doorways where a traditional sconce width would project too far. The IP20 rating limits use to dry interiors away from direct water contact.

The ribbed texture on each glass cylinder diffuses light from the G9 bulbs while creating vertical shadow lines on adjacent walls, adding pattern to the light output. The brushed gold finish on the metal backplate and central sphere softens reflections compared to polished gold, pairing with warm brass, copper and wood-toned interiors. The fitting weighs approximately 800g and mounts to a standard UK single-gang back box or wall plate with two fixing screws.

What bulbs does it take?

The Antic requires two G9 capsule bulbs up to 14W each (28W total), sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED G9 bulbs between 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting in hallways and bathrooms.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is not dimmable. If paired with dimmable G9 LED bulbs, dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model and bulb used. Standard installation uses non-dimmable G9 LEDs on a standard lighting circuit.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable only for dry bathroom zones away from direct water contact. It can be installed in Zone 3 (more than 0.6m from a bath or shower enclosure) but not in Zones 0, 1 or 2 where higher IP ratings are required.

What projection does it have from the wall?

The central sphere and glass cylinders project approximately 80-90mm from the wall surface once mounted. This makes the Antic suitable for narrower hallways and bathrooms where traditional sconces would obstruct passage.
