Description

The Ornate is a compact LED wall sconce built around a vertical textured glass column set on a rectangular brass-finish base. The integrated 2W LED behind the glass casts 50 lumens of warm 3000K light through the textured surface, creating a soft wash on the wall and a decorative glow from the column itself.

Designed as accent lighting rather than primary illumination, the Ornate suits hallways, alcoves, bedrooms and stairwell landings where low-level ambient light is needed. The IP20 rating restricts it to dry indoor locations. The wall plate fixes to a standard UK back box and the brass base sits approximately 40mm proud of the wall once mounted, minimising projection into narrow corridors.

The textured glass shows a vertical ripple pattern that diffuses the LED source and prevents glare when the fitting is viewed from the side. The brass-finish stainless steel base gives a warm metallic accent that pairs with brass hardware, warm wood tones and both traditional and contemporary colour palettes. At 2W and 50 lumens the output is deliberately low, suitable for night-time navigation or decorative mood lighting rather than task or reading light.

Is the Ornate dimmable?

No. The integrated 2W LED operates at fixed brightness on 230V mains and is not compatible with dimmer switches.

What does IP20 mean?

IP20 indicates protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm (fingers) but no protection against moisture. The fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only - not bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or outdoor areas.

How bright is 50 lumens?

50 lumens is low output, roughly equivalent to a 5W incandescent bulb. This is accent or mood lighting, not task lighting. It provides enough light for safe navigation in a hallway at night but would not be sufficient for reading or detailed work.

Can it be installed horizontally?

The glass column is designed to be mounted vertically with the brass base at the bottom. Horizontal mounting may be mechanically possible but would change the visual balance and light distribution the fitting was designed for.
