Description

The Calipso is a 24W LED wall sconce built around two vertically-oriented cylindrical tubes in ribbed brass-finish aluminium, one tall and one shorter, mounted onto a triangular brass backplate. Each tube houses integrated LEDs that direct light upwards and downwards along the wall, creating a wash effect rather than a focused beam. The ribbed texture on the tubes catches and reflects light, adding decorative interest to the fitting even when switched off.

Designed for feature wall positions in hallways, staircases, living rooms and commercial lobbies, the Calipso provides both ambient and accent lighting where architectural emphasis is wanted. The 1620lm output at 2700K gives warm white light comparable to a traditional 120-150W halogen, while the 36-degree beam angle concentrates the light along the vertical plane of the wall rather than spreading it wide into the room. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor areas only.

The aluminium construction keeps the weight manageable for plasterboard walls, while the brass finish provides a warm metallic tone that pairs with both contemporary and transitional interiors. The ribbed detailing on both tubes gives the fitting more visual weight and presence than plain cylinders would, making it work as a focal point on larger wall areas. The non-dimmable driver runs on standard 220-240V UK mains and is housed within the backplate, so no external transformer or driver box is needed.

Is the Calipso dimmable?

No. The integrated LED driver does not support dimming. The fitting runs at full 24W output when switched on.

What direction does the light go?

The LEDs inside each tube direct light upwards and downwards along the wall surface, creating a vertical wash effect. The 36-degree beam angle keeps the light concentrated along the wall plane rather than spreading it wide into the room.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting has no moisture protection and is suitable for dry indoor areas only. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher.

How is it wired?

The fitting connects to standard UK 220-240V mains via a terminal block inside the triangular backplate. The LED driver is integrated, so no external transformer is required. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
