Description

The Calipso fluted aluminium wall sconce features a tall cylindrical body with vertical ribbing, finished in matt black with a circular wall plate. Two GU10 fittings inside the cylinder direct light both upwards and downwards, creating a dual-beam effect on the wall surface. Each fitting takes a GU10 bulb up to 10W (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and brightness.

Designed for feature walls, hallways, staircases and living room accent lighting, the fitting casts narrow beams of light up and down the wall without projecting illumination into the room itself. The 270mm height and 95mm diameter give the wall light a vertical presence without overwhelming narrow hallway walls or alcoves. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations away from bathrooms and outdoor exposure.

The fluted aluminium body adds texture and depth to the wall surface when viewed from an angle, while the matt black finish absorbs ambient light and prevents reflections during the day. The wall plate mounts directly to a standard UK back box with concealed fixings, leaving no visible screws once installed. The aluminium construction keeps the weight low at approximately 0.8kg despite the size, reducing strain on plasterboard walls.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes two GU10 bulbs, one for the upward beam and one for the downward beam. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED GU10 bulbs between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K for ambient wall lighting.

Can I use dimmable bulbs?

The fitting itself is not rated as dimmable, so standard non-dimmable GU10 LED bulbs are recommended. Using dimmable bulbs on a dimmer switch may cause flickering or reduced lifespan.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting has no protection against moisture and must be installed in dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms, an IP44 or IP65 rated wall light is required.

How far does the light project from the wall?

The fitting projects approximately 95mm from the wall once mounted. The dual GU10 fittings create narrow up/down beams on the wall surface itself rather than projecting light into the room, so the lighting effect stays close to the wall.
