Description

The Maris alabaster wall sconce pairs a textured natural alabaster shade with a matt black metal bracket. The alabaster shade measures approximately 180mm tall by 120mm wide and shows visible veining and tonal variation characteristic of natural stone, with warm honey and caramel tones running through a translucent cream base. The light accepts a single G9 capsule bulb up to 5W (sold separately), which sits behind the alabaster to diffuse soft ambient light outward and downward.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, living room accent walls and staircases, the wall light provides gentle wash lighting rather than task illumination. The black bracket projects approximately 80-100mm from the wall and positions the alabaster shade forward of the mounting surface, casting light both through the stone and onto the wall behind. IP20 rating restricts use to dry interior locations only. The fitting wires into standard UK mains on 230V and does not support dimming.

The matt black finish on the metal bracket provides a neutral anchor that allows the natural alabaster tone to dominate visually, working across contemporary, industrial and transitional interiors. Each shade will differ in veining pattern and translucency depending on which section of the alabaster block it was cut from. The relatively compact size suits narrower wall spaces including beside doorways, flanking bathroom mirrors (in dry zones only), and stairwell landings where a larger fitting would overpower the available wall area.

The fitting takes one G9 capsule bulb up to 5W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 3-4W LED G9 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for soft ambient lighting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means it is only suitable for dry interior locations. It cannot be installed in bathroom zones where moisture or water spray is present. It may be used in a bedroom en-suite changing area outside the classified zones.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each shade is cut from natural alabaster, so veining patterns, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual fittings. This is characteristic of the natural material.

Is it dimmable?

No. The fitting does not support dimmer switches. Installing it on a dimmed circuit may cause the bulb to flicker or fail to light.
