Description

This suspension rod extends track lighting systems down from high ceilings, providing 1.5m of vertical drop between the ceiling mounting point and the track rail itself. The rod is constructed from black-finished aluminium with a cylindrical profile approximately 20mm in diameter, with threaded connectors at both the ceiling canopy end and the track rail end.

Designed for commercial spaces, galleries, retail environments and residential rooms with ceiling heights above 3m, the suspension rod allows track lighting to be positioned at a functional height rather than mounted directly to the ceiling. This is particularly useful in double-height spaces, mezzanines and converted industrial buildings where the ceiling may be 4-6m high but task or accent lighting needs to sit closer to floor level. The rod accepts standard track rail systems and transfers both structural load and electrical supply down the central core.

The black aluminium finish matches 's standard black track rail and fittings, creating a continuous visual line from ceiling to track head. The rod remains rigid under the load of a typical 2-3m track rail section with three to five spotlight heads attached, but is not designed to support heavy pendant fittings or excessive cantilevered loads. Installation requires secure fixing to a joist or ceiling structure capable of supporting the combined weight of rod, track and fittings.

Can multiple rods be stacked for greater drop?

No. The rod is manufactured as a single 1.5m length and cannot be extended by joining multiple rods together. For drops greater than 1.5m, consult 's extended suspension rod options or consider a custom cable suspension system.

Does the electrical supply run through the rod?

Yes. The rod contains an internal conductor that transfers mains power from the ceiling connection down to the track rail, eliminating the need for external cabling. The rod must be installed by a qualified electrician to ensure correct polarity and earth connections.

What ceiling fixing is required?

The ceiling canopy must be fixed directly to a joist or structural ceiling beam capable of supporting the combined weight of the rod, track rail and all attached fittings. Plasterboard fixings alone are not sufficient for this type of installation.
