Description

The Thornby is an arched overmantle mirror with a gold frame, sized to sit above a fireplace or along a wide wall. The reeded moulding follows the curved top edge and steps down each side, meeting a flat plinth base that gives the mirror a settled, grounded look. Two carved acanthus scrolls flank the lower corners, adding a period touch drawn from Victorian overmantle design.

The frame is finished in a warm gold tone with subtle variation across the reeding, so light catches the ridges rather than sitting flat. A bevelled glass plate sits within the frame, and the generous 1180mm width helps open up a room by bouncing daylight back into the space. It works well over a mantelpiece in a living room, but the arched shape also suits a hallway or dining room where you want a classic feature above a console or sideboard.
