Description

The Scala ribbed glass pendant light combines a two-tier ribbed glass shade with a cylindrical bronze canopy and matching cable suspension. An integrated 12W LED inside the glass shade delivers 1300 lumens of warm 3000K light through the ribbed diffuser, casting vertical shadow lines onto adjacent surfaces when lit. The 120-degree beam angle provides directed downlight suitable for task and ambient use.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the pendant pairs directional light output with decorative form. The ribbed glass shade sits approximately 150mm below the canopy on a single cable run, positioning the light source 700-900mm above a worktop or dining surface depending on ceiling height. The bronze canopy fits standard UK ceiling roses and houses the LED driver.

The ribbed glass construction creates vertical fluting that refracts the LED light source, softening direct glare while maintaining downward light output for functional task lighting. The bronze finish on the metal canopy provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with brass, copper and warm wood tones in contemporary and transitional interiors. The fitting carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use only and is not dimmable on standard circuits.

Is this pendant dimmable?

No. The integrated 12W LED is not compatible with dimmer switches on standard circuits. The fitting operates at full brightness when powered.

What ceiling height is needed?

The pendant works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For a kitchen island or dining table, position the shade 700-900mm above the surface to provide functional task lighting without obstructing sightlines.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only and must not be installed in bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or any damp or outdoor areas.

How is the ribbed glass cleaned?

Switch off and allow the LED to cool. Wipe the glass shade with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with water and dry immediately. Avoid sprays or chemical cleaners on the bronze canopy.
