Bassa LED Pendant Light - Black

The Bassa Eclipse is a 600mm-diameter glass pendant light with a flattened organic form suspended from a matt black metal canopy. The shade combines clear and amber-tinted glass in a layered construction, with the amber section forming a graduated band around the upper half that intensifies the warm glow from the integrated 20W 3000K LED. The light source sits recessed into the centre of the shade, casting 2000 lumens downward and outward through the glass at a 180-degree beam angle.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Eclipse pairs decorative presence with functional ambient light. The 600mm diameter suits dining tables of 1.6-2.2m length or kitchen islands of similar scale, with the pendant typically positioned 700-800mm above the surface. The graduated amber tint filters and warms the LED output, reducing the clinical edge of straight white light while maintaining the 2000-lumen output needed to light a 12-15m² space comfortably. The fitting is dimmable on compatible LED dimmers.

The glass shade is hand-blown and shows subtle variation in the amber banding and tonal depth between individual pieces. The black metal canopy measures approximately 200mm diameter and conceals the cable suspension and driver housing. The combined glass and metal construction gives the fitting a substantial presence without excessive weight, and the IP20 rating confirms it as suitable for dry interior locations only. The 80 CRI LED reproduction is adequate for most residential applications, though colour-critical environments may benefit from higher-CRI alternatives.

Yes. The 20W LED is rated as dimmable on the specification. Compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model installed - most trailing-edge LED dimmers handle this fitting without issue, but confirm with your electrician or contact us before pairing with older leading-edge dimmers.

What ceiling height is needed?

The pendant suits rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For a dining table or kitchen island the fitting typically hangs 700-800mm above the surface, which requires approximately 2.5-2.6m floor-to-ceiling clearance including the canopy height and suspension cable.

Does the amber glass vary between pieces?

Yes. The glass shade is hand-blown, so the amber banding and tonal depth differ slightly between individual pendants. This is a characteristic of the manufacturing process, not a defect.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating confirms the fitting is suitable for dry interior locations only and does not carry the IP44 or IP65 rating required for bathroom zones 1-3.
