Description

The Lactea solar-powered LED table lamp is a 140mm diameter aluminium sphere housing a 1W 3000K LED and a rechargeable battery charged by the solar panel on top of the unit. The frosted lower hemisphere diffuses 102 lumens of warm white light across a 360° spread, while the matt black upper housing absorbs daylight through the integrated photovoltaic panel during the day.

Designed for outdoor dining tables, patios, balconies and garden seating areas without access to mains power, the lamp requires no wiring or external charging. The 3.7V rechargeable battery inside the housing charges during daylight hours and provides illumination after dark. The lamp is dimmable via a touch control on the side of the housing, allowing output to be adjusted from full 102 lumens down to ambient glow depending on whether the lamp is being used for functional dining light or background atmosphere.

The IP54 rating protects the internal electronics and LED from rain, dust and garden hose spray, making the lamp suitable for year-round outdoor use in typical UK weather when not exposed to standing water or submersion. The aluminium construction and matt black powder-coated finish resist UV degradation and temperature cycling. The lamp can be left outdoors permanently or brought inside during winter months. A small loop on the back of the housing allows the lamp to be hung from a hook or shepherd's crook if required, converting it from a table lamp to a hanging lantern.

How long does the battery last on a full charge?

Runtime depends on the dimmer setting and the amount of charge accumulated during daylight. On full output expect 3-5 hours. On lower dimmer settings the lamp can run for 8-12 hours. Charge time varies with season and sunlight intensity but typically requires 6-8 hours of direct sun exposure.

Can it be used indoors?

Yes. The lamp functions identically indoors but will need to be placed in direct sunlight or near a window during the day to charge the internal battery via the solar panel. For permanent indoor use a mains-powered lamp is more practical.

Is it weatherproof enough to leave outside all year?

The IP54 rating protects against rain, dust and garden spray. The lamp can be left outdoors year-round in typical UK conditions but should not be submerged or left in standing water. Bringing it inside during extended freezing periods will extend battery life.

How is the dimmer controlled?

A touch-sensitive control on the side of the housing cycles through dimmer levels. Tap once to switch on at full output, tap again to dim, tap repeatedly to cycle through lower settings, and hold to switch off.
