Description

The Zon is a trimless recessed downlight housing designed for installation into plasterboard ceilings where the visible bezel is plastered flush with the ceiling surface. The white metal housing features perforated metal flanges on both sides that lock into the ceiling void, while the central aperture accepts compatible recessed light modules. The trimless design allows the light fitting to appear as a seamless aperture in the ceiling rather than a protruding bezel or ring.

Trimless housings suit contemporary and minimalist interiors where visible hardware is kept to a minimum. The housing is designed for false ceilings with accessible voids of at least 100mm depth, commonly found in new-build homes, commercial spaces and refurbishments where ceilings have been over-boarded. Once the plaster is skimmed flush with the housing rim, only the light aperture remains visible. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry interior spaces away from direct water contact.

The white finish on the housing body reduces contrast when viewed through the aperture from below, helping the fitting blend into white or light-coloured ceilings. The perforated metal flanges distribute load across the plasterboard and prevent the housing from dropping through the ceiling void once installed. This housing is sold as an accessory component and requires a separate compatible light module to function as a complete downlight.

Frequently Asked

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum void depth of 100mm is typically needed for safe installation of the housing and a compatible light module. Check the combined depth of your chosen light module and this housing before cutting the ceiling aperture.

Does this include the light module?

No. This is the housing component only. A separate compatible recessed light module is required to create a functioning downlight. The module slots into the central aperture of the housing once the housing is plastered in.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating restricts use to dry interior spaces only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, kitchens above hobs, or any location where direct water contact or high humidity is present.

How is it fitted?

The housing is positioned into a cut aperture in the plasterboard ceiling, with the perforated flanges sitting above the ceiling plane. The flanges are secured to the ceiling structure, then plaster is skimmed flush with the housing rim to hide the bezel. The light module is installed after plastering is complete.
