Description

The Dip is a transparent optical lens designed for 10W downlight fittings in the range. The lens is precision-moulded from optically clear plastic with a structured inner surface that controls beam angle and light distribution from the LED source behind it. The outer face remains flat and smooth for cleaning, while the inner face contains the refractive pattern that shapes the light output.

Designed as a replacement or upgrade component for existing downlights, the lens clips or screws into the front of the fitting depending on the specific downlight model. It suits commercial and residential installations where the original lens has been damaged, discoloured by heat, or where a different beam pattern is needed for a room reconfiguration. The 35mm diameter is compatible with compact recessed downlights typically used in retail displays, hotel corridors, office ceilings and residential kitchens.

The transparent finish maintains maximum light transmission efficiency, losing minimal output to tinting or diffusion. The plastic construction is lighter than glass equivalents and less prone to shattering if the fitting is accidentally struck during maintenance. The lens is not dimmable in itself - dimming capability depends on the LED driver and control gear in the host downlight fitting.

Which downlights is this lens compatible with?

The Dip is designed for 10W downlight models with a 35mm lens aperture. Check your existing downlight model number or measure the diameter of the current lens to confirm fitment before ordering.

Can this lens be cleaned?

Yes. The outer face is smooth optical plastic and can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth. For heavier dust or fingerprints, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is safe. Avoid household sprays or abrasive cleaners that may scratch the surface or degrade the plastic.

Does this lens affect light output?

The transparent finish maintains maximum light transmission. The structured inner surface controls beam angle but does not significantly reduce lumen output compared to a downlight with no lens, assuming the lens is clean and undamaged.

Is this suitable for outdoor downlights?

Only if the host downlight fitting itself carries an IP rating for outdoor use. The lens alone does not provide weather sealing - it relies on the gaskets and housing of the complete downlight assembly.
