Description

This lens is a transparent plastic optic designed to control beam angle in compatible 10W LED recessed downlights. The 35° beam angle narrows the light spread compared to the standard 60° or 90° output of most recessed fittings, making it suitable for accent lighting, task lighting over kitchen worktops, or highlighting specific areas within a room.

The lens replaces the standard diffuser or reflector in the downlight housing, directing the 10W LED output into a tighter, more focused cone of light. This is particularly useful in retail, gallery and hospitality applications where specific objects or surfaces need highlighting, or in domestic settings where a recessed downlight needs to function as directional task lighting rather than ambient wash light.

The transparent plastic construction maintains the colour temperature and colour rendering index of the LED source without tinting or filtering the light output. The lens fits 10W recessed downlight housings and is held in place by the downlight's existing bezel or trim ring. Installation requires removing the existing diffuser or reflector, inserting the new lens, and re-securing the bezel.

What downlights is this lens compatible with?

The lens is designed for 10W recessed LED downlights. Check the downlight model number and specifications to confirm compatibility before ordering. If you're unsure, contact us with your downlight model and we can confirm fitment.

Does the lens reduce light output?

The lens redirects light into a narrower 35° beam rather than absorbing or blocking it, so total lumen output remains similar to the standard diffuser. However, because the light is concentrated into a smaller area, perceived brightness in the centre of the beam will be higher.

Can the lens be used with dimmable downlights?

The lens itself is not dimmable or non-dimmable - it's a passive optic. Dimming capability depends on the LED driver and control circuitry in the downlight housing, not the lens. If the downlight is dimmable before fitting the lens, it will remain dimmable after.

How is the lens cleaned?

Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth when the fitting is switched off and cool. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Do not use solvent-based cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can scratch or cloud the transparent plastic.
