Description

The Power supplies Triac is a 12W constant current LED driver delivering 300mA output to LED panels, downlights and strip lighting that require precise current regulation. The driver accepts 180-240V AC 50Hz mains input and provides 23-40V DC output, making it compatible with most low-voltage LED arrays rated for 300mA operation. Built-in triac dimming circuitry allows the driver to work with standard phase-cut dimmers fitted on the mains side.

Designed for installation above ceiling voids, inside lighting canopies, or behind panels where the driver itself is not visible, the IP54-rated white plastic housing protects the circuitry from dust ingress and light splashing. The compact 85mm diameter and 40mm height allow the unit to fit into shallow ceiling voids and behind narrow lamp housings where larger drivers would not. Four colour-coded wires exit the housing: blue and brown for AC input, black and red for DC output to the LED load.

The driver operates between -45°C and +85°C ambient temperature and carries a power factor of 0.9, minimising harmonic distortion on the supply. Maximum output is 12W, which translates to 40V at 300mA or 23V at 520mA depending on the LED load characteristics. The triac dimming function requires a compatible leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmer on the AC input side; not all dimmers will work smoothly with this driver, so testing with the specific dimmer model is recommended before final installation.

Frequently Asked

Is this driver compatible with all dimmers?

No. Triac dimming requires a compatible leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmer on the AC input side. Not all dimmer models work smoothly with constant current drivers. Test with your specific dimmer before final installation to confirm smooth dimming without flicker.

What LED fittings can this driver power?

The driver is designed for LED panels, downlights and strip lighting rated for 300mA constant current operation at 23-40V DC. Maximum load is 12W. Check the LED fitting's driver requirements before connecting.

Can it be installed in a bathroom?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and light splashing, making it suitable for installation above ceiling voids in bathrooms, but not for direct exposure to shower spray or submersion. Install in a dry, accessible location above the ceiling or inside a canopy.

What do the wire colours mean?

Blue and brown wires connect to the 180-240V AC mains input (neutral and live). Black and red wires connect to the LED load on the DC output side. Always isolate the mains supply before wiring.
