Description

The Power supplies DALI is a 12W constant current LED driver with DALI protocol dimming capability, delivering 300mA output to compatible LED downlights and panels. The driver accepts 220-240V 50/60Hz mains input and provides regulated current to maintain consistent LED brightness across voltage fluctuations.

Designed for recessed installation above ceilings or within void spaces, the driver carries an IP54 rating allowing use in dry and intermittently damp locations such as domestic bathrooms (outside zones 0-1) and covered outdoor soffits. The white plastic housing measures approximately 70mm diameter by 30mm depth, fitting standard UK ceiling voids with 100mm clearance. DALI wiring connects to compatible dimmer switches or building management systems for programmable dimming scenes.

The constant current output maintains stable 300mA regardless of load variation within the 0.9-12W range, preventing LED flicker and extending lamp life compared to voltage-based drivers. The driver operates at power factor >0.9 and includes thermal protection that reduces output if internal temperature exceeds safe limits. Installation requires connection by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.

What is DALI dimming and do I need a special dimmer?

DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a digital dimming protocol that allows precise control and programming of lighting scenes. This driver requires a DALI-compatible dimmer or control system - standard phase-cut dimmers will not work. DALI is common in commercial installations and high-end residential projects.

Can this driver be installed in a bathroom?

The IP54 rating allows installation in bathroom ceiling voids outside zones 0 and 1, typically above general bathroom areas away from the shower enclosure and bathtub. The driver must be installed in an accessible void space for maintenance, not sealed inside the fitting itself.

What happens if the load is less than 0.9W?

The driver is rated for 0.9-12W loads. Running it significantly under the minimum load may cause flickering or unstable operation. If your LED load is below 0.9W, you will need a driver with a lower minimum rating.

Does the driver need ventilation?

Yes. Like all electronic drivers, this unit generates heat and requires air circulation in the ceiling void. Do not bury it under insulation or pack it tightly against other heat sources. Thermal protection will reduce output if it overheats, but adequate ventilation ensures full performance.
