Description

The Calipso recessed downlight pairs a black aluminium ceiling trim with a brass fluted reflector tube that houses a GU10 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately). The vertical fluting on the brass reflector diffuses the light as it leaves the fitting, softening the beam edge and reducing glare while maintaining downward directionality. The black trim sits flush with the ceiling and measures approximately 90mm in diameter.

Designed for recessed ceiling installation in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and home offices where controlled accent or task lighting is needed. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry interior ceilings only, not bathrooms or outdoor soffits. The GU10 socket accepts any standard mains-voltage LED or halogen GU10 bulb up to 10W, giving control over colour temperature and beam angle depending on which bulb is paired with the fitting.

The brass fluted reflector sits within the black trim and extends down approximately 120mm from the ceiling plane when installed, making it visible below the ceiling line rather than fully recessed. This gives the fitting a decorative presence that works in contemporary and transitional interiors where metallic accents are wanted. The aluminium construction keeps the weight low for straightforward ceiling installation, and the fluted tube design channels heat away from the GU10 bulb socket during operation.

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry interior ceilings only. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher, and this fitting does not carry that rating.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is not dimmable. If dimming is needed, pair the fitting with a dimmable GU10 bulb and ensure the circuit uses a compatible GU10-rated dimmer switch.
