Description

The Lens surface mounted downlight is a 15W LED ceiling light built around a cylindrical white aluminium housing with an integrated 15W LED module inside. The 1070 lumen output delivers warm 3000K light through a 70° beam angle, providing general ambient lighting for rooms where recessed downlights cannot be installed. The IP44 rating allows use in bathrooms (outside direct shower zones) and covered outdoor areas such as porches and carports.

Designed for ceiling mounting where the depth above the ceiling is insufficient for recessed fittings, the surface mount design requires no cutting or ceiling voids. The fitting mounts directly to a ceiling junction box or surface junction point, making it suitable for retrofit projects, solid concrete ceilings, and period properties where cutting into the ceiling structure is impractical. The cylindrical profile sits approximately 80-100mm below the ceiling plane once installed.

The white powder-coated aluminium housing provides a clean finish that pairs with white or light-toned ceilings in modern and contemporary interiors. The 90 CRI rating reproduces colours more accurately than standard 80 CRI LED downlights, making it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, dressing areas and retail spaces where colour rendering matters. The LED is non-dimmable and operates on standard 220-240V 50Hz mains without requiring a separate driver box.

Frequently Asked

Is this dimmable?

No. The integrated 15W LED is not compatible with dimmer switches. Attempting to use this fitting on a dimmed circuit may cause flickering or premature LED failure.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

Yes. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, which includes positions outside the shower enclosure and above the bath (but not directly in the shower spray). Check current IET Wiring Regulations for exact bathroom zone placement.

Does it need a separate driver?

No. The LED driver is integrated inside the housing. The fitting connects directly to 220-240V mains wiring at the ceiling junction point.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 1070 lumen output and 70° beam angle work well in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3m. At 2.4m ceiling height, one fitting provides general lighting for approximately 8-10 square metres of floor area, depending on room reflectance and task requirements.
