Description

The Scala ribbed ceiling light features a two-tier cylindrical shade moulded from white metal with vertical ribbed detailing on both the upper and lower sections. An integrated 12W LED inside the shade delivers 1300 lumens at 3000K warm white through a frosted diffuser at the base, casting downward light with a 120° beam spread. The white metal canopy mounts flush to the ceiling, housing the driver behind a low-profile circular plate.

Designed for low-ceiling residential spaces including hallways, landings, small bedrooms, bathrooms (IP20 - suitable only for Zone 3 or unzoned areas), and cloakrooms where full-height pendant lights cannot be accommodated. The flush-mount configuration sits close to the ceiling with minimal drop, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights under 2.4m where traditional pendant lighting would feel oppressive. The downward beam provides functional task and ambient light without glare at eye level when standing.

The ribbed detailing on the cylindrical shade creates subtle texture when lit, with the vertical grooves catching and diffusing light at the edges of the metal surface. The white finish integrates cleanly into both traditional white ceilings and contemporary neutral colour schemes. The LED is non-dimmable and rated at 80 CRI, providing good colour rendering for daily tasks without the warm tonal shift of lower CRI sources. The metal construction and IP20 rating limit the fitting to indoor dry locations only.

Is this suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The flush-mount design sits close to the ceiling with minimal projection, making it appropriate for rooms with ceiling heights under 2.4m where pendant lights would hang too low.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating limits the fitting to Zone 3 (more than 600mm from a water source) or unzoned bathroom areas only. It cannot be installed directly above a bath, shower or basin.

Is the LED dimmable?

No. The integrated 12W LED operates at full output only and is not compatible with dimmer switches.

What light output does 1300 lumens provide?

1300 lumens is roughly equivalent to a traditional 100W incandescent bulb and provides sufficient light for a hallway, landing, small bedroom or bathroom up to approximately 10-12 square metres.
