Scala Wood LED Ceiling Light - Bronze

This ceiling light features two tiers of vertical glass rods arranged in concentric rings around a central light source, mounted flush against the ceiling via a bronze-finish metal canopy. The integrated 12W LED sits behind the inner tier of rods, casting 1300 lumens of 3000K warm white light through the glass which diffuses and multiplies the output across the room.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms (IP20 rating limits it to zones outside splash areas), and low-ceiling living spaces where a pendant would hang too low, the 200mm diameter footprint provides ambient light without dominating the ceiling plane. The semi-flush mount projects approximately 150mm from the ceiling, leaving headroom clearance in rooms with 2.3m or lower ceiling heights. The fitting connects directly to standard UK ceiling wiring via the canopy back plate.

The glass rods are cut with vertical ribbing that catches and refracts the LED light, creating soft linear patterns on surrounding walls and ceilings when lit. The bronze finish on the metal frame and canopy provides a warm metallic accent that sits between antique brass and darker oil-rubbed bronze tones, pairing well with both traditional and transitional interiors. The 120-degree beam angle spreads light broadly rather than focusing it downwards, making this a general ambient fitting rather than task lighting.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means it is not protected against moisture ingress. It can be installed in bathrooms outside of designated zones (typically more than 600mm from a bath or shower enclosure), but not within zones 0, 1 or 2 where splashing occurs.

Is the LED replaceable?

The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The rated lifespan is typically 25,000-30,000 hours, which equates to approximately 15-20 years of normal domestic use.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The semi-flush design projects approximately 150mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate it if there is sufficient headroom clearance in walking areas.
