Description

The Calipso ribbed spotlight is a ceiling-mounted directional light with a vertically ribbed aluminium body finished in brass, mounted on a cylindrical ceiling plate. The body tilts and rotates on the mounting joint, allowing the beam to be directed across a room or onto a specific wall or feature. The fitting takes a GU10 bulb up to 10W (sold separately) and is rated IP20 for dry interior installation.

Designed as accent or task lighting rather than ambient, the spotlight suits hallways, kitchens, home offices and gallery walls where directed light is needed on a specific surface or object. The compact cylindrical body measures approximately 100mm in length and projects 120-140mm from the ceiling when angled, making it suitable for standard ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The ribbed texture catches light differently at different angles, adding architectural detail when multiple spotlights are grouped in a line or cluster.

The brass finish is a warm metallic tone that sits between polished brass and antique brass, with a semi-matte surface that softens reflections under daylight. The aluminium body is lightweight but durable, and the ribbing provides structural rigidity without adding bulk. The GU10 socket accepts any standard GU10 LED, halogen or CFL bulb, giving flexibility to choose beam angle and colour temperature to suit the application. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED GU10 in 3000K for accent lighting or 4000K for task lighting in kitchens and workspaces.

The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED GU10 in 3000K for accent lighting or 4000K for task lighting.

Can the head be adjusted?

Yes. The ribbed body tilts and rotates on the ceiling mounting joint, allowing the beam to be directed across the room or onto a specific wall, artwork or worktop.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is designed for dry interior use only and is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor installation or any location where it may be exposed to moisture.
