Description

The Calipso is a single-lamp ceiling spotlight with a fluted matt black aluminium body housing a GU10 bulb fitting. The cylindrical body features vertical ribbing that dissipates heat from the lamp and gives the fitting an architectural character. The lamp head rotates and tilts on a recessed ceiling mount, allowing light to be directed onto walls, artwork, or task areas.

Designed for track systems and fixed ceiling mounts in retail, gallery, kitchen and office settings where directed accent light is needed, the Calipso pairs with standard GU10 LED or halogen bulbs up to 10W (sold separately). The adjustable head allows the beam to be positioned without re-wiring the fitting, making it practical for highlighting specific objects or zones within a room. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor environments.

The matt black aluminium body provides a low-reflectance finish that recedes against dark ceilings and contrasts cleanly against white or light-coloured surfaces. The fluted exterior increases the surface area for passive cooling, reducing the body temperature during extended operation. At approximately 120mm in length and 60mm in diameter, the Calipso provides focused task or accent light without the visual weight of larger spotlights.

What bulb does it take?

The Calipso uses a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K for accent lighting, or a neutral-white 4000K LED for task lighting in kitchens and offices.

Can the spotlight be angled?

Yes. The lamp head rotates and tilts on the ceiling mount, allowing the beam to be directed onto walls, surfaces or objects without re-wiring the fitting. The adjustment range depends on the specific mount configuration.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be used in dry indoor environments. For bathrooms, look for spotlights rated IP44 or higher.

Is the Calipso dimmable?

The fitting itself does not include dimming circuitry. Dimmer compatibility depends on the GU10 bulb you install - choose a dimmable GU10 LED and pair it with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer switch if dimming is required.
