Description

The Tree is an 800mm oak bollard light with an integrated 8W 3000K LED, a clear polycarbonate diffuser section and a matt black aluminium top. The LED sits within the black top housing and casts 520 lumens in a 360-degree pattern through the clear diffuser, lighting the surrounding path or driveway evenly. The IP65 rating protects the internal components from water jets and dust ingress, making the bollard suitable for year-round outdoor use in UK weather.

Designed as pathway and driveway marker lighting, the Tree suits residential front gardens, side paths between properties, driveways with parallel planting borders, and larger garden areas where visitors need to see the route to the door after dark. The 800mm height keeps the light source roughly knee-height, minimising glare while still providing enough spread to define the path edge. The oak column can be left unsealed to weather naturally to a silver-grey patina or treated with exterior wood oil to maintain the warmer golden-brown tone.

The oak is FSC-certified timber cut into a square-section post with visible grain and natural knots. Each bollard differs slightly depending on which section of the tree the timber was milled from. The clear polycarbonate diffuser allows the LED to produce a crisp white light at 3000K without the amber cast that frosted diffusers sometimes add. The matt black top conceals the power connection point and prevents water from entering the internal cavity. Installation requires a mains cable run buried at least 450mm underground in armoured cable or conduit, terminating at the bollard base where cable entries are pre-drilled.

What installation method does the Tree require?

The bollard requires a buried mains cable run in armoured cable or conduit, terminating at cable entry points pre-drilled in the bollard base. The cable must be buried at least 450mm underground to meet UK outdoor wiring regulations. A qualified electrician should complete the installation.

Will the oak change colour over time?

Yes. Unsealed oak exposed to weather will silver to a grey patina over 12-24 months. To maintain the golden-brown tone, treat the timber with exterior wood oil or decking oil before installation and re-treat annually. The natural knots and grain will remain visible under either treatment.

Can it be used in a lawn or does it need hard standing?

The Tree can be installed in both locations. For lawn installation, set the base into a concrete footing below ground level so the bollard sits flush with or just above the grass. For paving or gravel, the bollard can be surface-mounted if the cable entry allows it, or set into a sub-surface concrete base with the timber column protruding.

Is the light dimmable?

No. The integrated 8W LED runs at a fixed output of 520 lumens and cannot be dimmed. If dimming is required, a separate outdoor dimmer module would need to be added to the circuit by a qualified electrician, but this is not recommended for integrated LED bollards as it may reduce lifespan.
