The Acton is a narrow two-drawer console table in black, finished with a visible wood grain and small brass knobs that lift the plain front. It measures 110cm wide and just 36cm deep, so it holds a wall in a hallway or sits behind a sofa without pushing into the room, and it stands 76cm high, a comfortable height for a lamp with a mirror above. The two drawers run the width of the front and keep keys, post, chargers and other small clutter out of sight by the door.

A slim console like this earns its place in the spots a deeper table cannot go, a tight entrance hall, a landing, the back of a sofa or a stretch of wall in a dining room. The top gives you a surface for a table lamp, a vase, a tray or a stack of books, and the drawers below take the day-to-day things you want near the front door but not on show. Set against a wall it works as a hallway table and a drop zone in one, and the black finish sits easily with both painted and papered walls.

The frame is built from wood and engineered wood in a black finish, standing on slim tapered legs that keep the look light rather than boxy.
