Description

The Step is a 118.5cm linear pendant light with an integrated 30W 3000K LED running the length of a black aluminium profile. The fitting combines direct downlight through the lower face with a reflected uplight from a concealed internal reflector, washing light onto the ceiling above while illuminating the surface below.

Designed for installation above kitchen islands, long dining tables, and reception desks where a continuous light line is needed without multiple pendants, the Step provides 120° light distribution from its lower face, covering working surfaces up to 1m wide. The suspension height is adjustable between 20cm and 100cm from the ceiling canopy to the top of the profile, allowing the fitting to be set 70-90cm above a countertop or dining table depending on ceiling height. The dual lighting effect softens shadows and reduces direct glare by bouncing a proportion of the LED output off the ceiling.

The black aluminium profile measures 4cm wide by 8cm tall along its 118.5cm run, giving the fitting a slimline presence that reads as a single light bar rather than a bulky box. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor environments only. The CRI 80 rating provides good colour rendering for residential and commercial interiors, and the 3000K colour temperature produces warm white light consistent with most UK domestic LED lighting. The 5-year guarantee covers the integrated LED, which is not user-replaceable.

Is the LED dimmable?

The integrated LED requires a compatible mains dimmer on the circuit. Not all dimmers work with integrated LED fittings, so check the dimmer compatibility before installation or contact us for advice on pairing this fitting with a specific dimmer switch.

What length table does this suit?

The 118.5cm light bar works best above tables or islands between 140-180cm long, sitting centrally with 10-30cm clearance either end. For longer surfaces, consider pairing two Step fittings end-to-end or running them in parallel.

How is the suspension height adjusted?

The cables feeding the fitting are adjustable during installation, allowing the light to be set between 20cm and 100cm below the ceiling canopy. The exact mechanism depends on the specific cable suspension hardware supplied with the fitting, see the product manual for details.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture and must only be installed in dry indoor locations. For bathrooms, look for fittings rated IP44 or higher.
