Description

The Maytoni Step is a 118.5cm linear LED pendant light built from white powder-coated aluminium with an integrated 30W SMD LED array running the length of the bar. The LED provides both direct downlight and a reflected backlight that bounces off the mounting surface above, creating a soft ambient glow around the fitting. The 3000K colour temperature produces warm white light at 80 CRI, and the 120° beam angle spreads illumination widely enough to cover kitchen islands, workbenches and dining tables without creating hard shadows.

Designed for installation above kitchen islands, countertops and long dining tables, the Step pendant adjusts between 20cm and 100cm drop on installation, allowing the fitting to be set at the correct height for the ceiling and the surface below. For a 900mm-high island or dining table, the fitting typically sits 700-800mm above the worktop when hung from a 2.4m ceiling. The slim 4cm width and 8cm height keep the profile low enough not to obstruct sightlines across open-plan spaces.

The white aluminium body is powder-coated for a uniform matt finish that resists fingerprints and kitchen grease better than gloss surfaces. The SMD LED array is rated at 30,000 hours, which translates to approximately 10 years of use at 8 hours per day before output begins to decline. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations, not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor covered areas. Is the Step dimmable?

The integrated 30W LED requires a compatible mains dimmer switch rated for LED loads. Not all household dimmers support LED dimming, check the dimmer specification before pairing. Incompatible dimmers may cause flickering or failure to dim smoothly.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable suspension cable allows drop heights between 20cm and 100cm. For installation above a kitchen island or dining table, ceiling heights of 2.4m or above work best. Lower ceilings can accommodate the fitting if the suspension cable is shortened during installation.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms require a minimum IP44 rating for zones 2 and 3, and higher ratings for zones 0 and 1 near water sources.

What is the expected lifespan?

The SMD LED array is rated at 30,000 hours, equivalent to approximately 10 years of use at 8 hours per day before light output begins to decline noticeably. The fitting carries a 5-year manufacturer warranty covering LED driver and coating defects.
