Description

The Sage is a 200mm wide wall light with a rectangular black glass diffuser housing two G9 bulb fittings, mounted on a chromed metal wall plate. The glass is a layered construction: white inner casing with a black outer layer that has been acid-etched to create a soft matte finish. This double-layer structure allows light to pass through the white inner glass while the black exterior defines the visual outline of the fitting.

Designed for ambient wall lighting in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and dining rooms, the Sage provides indirect light spread across the wall surface rather than focused task illumination. The 70mm projection from the wall and the rectangular profile suit walls with limited clearance, such as narrow hallways or above console tables where a deeper fitting would intrude into the space. The chromed wall plate measures approximately 40mm square and mounts to a standard UK wall box.

The glass diffuser is blown and cased, meaning the white and black layers are fused during the glass-forming process rather than applied as a surface coating. The acid-etching on the black outer layer creates a consistent matte texture that resists fingerprints and reduces glare from the bulbs inside. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations — it is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor use, or areas exposed to moisture.

What bulbs does it take?

The Sage takes two G9 capsule bulbs (sold separately). G9 bulbs are available in halogen, LED and warm-white LED variants. For dimming compatibility, use dimmable LED G9 bulbs paired with a trailing-edge dimmer.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, the fitting is compatible with dimmer switches when paired with dimmable G9 bulbs. Use a trailing-edge dimmer for LED bulbs to avoid flicker and ensure smooth dimming performance.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is designed for dry indoor use only and offers no protection against moisture. It is not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or any area where water exposure is possible.

How is the glass cleaned?

The acid-etched black glass can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with water and dry immediately. Avoid glass cleaners with ammonia or alcohol, which can leave streaks on the matte finish.
