Description
The Mercury cable tie is a 4.8x200mm black nylon strap with a ratchet head that locks through a series of internal teeth, securing cables, wiring looms, and component bundles with a maximum load rating of 181lb (82kg). The tie is made from nylon 6.6, which holds its grip across a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C without becoming brittle in cold conditions or softening under heat.
Designed for electrical installations, AV cabling, workshop organisation and general bundling applications, the 200mm length wraps around cable bundles up to approximately 50mm diameter when pulled tight. The black colour hides against dark backgrounds and reduces visual clutter when ties are used on rear panels, under desks, or in server racks. Once the ratchet engages, the tie cannot be loosened without cutting, so positioning must be correct on first closure.
Each pack contains 100 ties, giving enough stock for medium-scale installations or for keeping as general workshop consumables. The 4.8mm width provides a balance between tensile strength and flexibility — wide enough to distribute load without cutting into cable jackets, narrow enough to thread through tight apertures and behind wall plates. The tail end of the tie extends past the head once locked and can be trimmed flush with side cutters for a cleaner finish.

Frequently Asked
Can these cable ties be reused?
No. The ratchet mechanism locks permanently once engaged and cannot be released without cutting the tie. Position the bundle correctly before pulling the tail tight.
What diameter bundle will a 200mm tie secure?
A 200mm cable tie wraps around a bundle of approximately 50mm diameter when pulled tight, though the exact diameter depends on how much tail length is left after the ratchet head.
Are they suitable for outdoor use?
The nylon material tolerates -40°C to 85°C and resists moisture, but prolonged UV exposure degrades nylon over time. For permanent outdoor installations exposed to direct sunlight, UV-stabilised cable ties (typically marked as such) offer better longevity.
How much load can they hold?
The maximum tensile load is 181lb (82kg). This rating applies to the tie itself under controlled conditions — always account for the weight distribution and mounting method when securing heavy bundles or equipment.
