Description

The Helsingor is a 1000mm-tall black bollard lantern with an integrated PIR motion sensor, built from 304-grade stainless steel with a powder-coated black finish. The lantern head sits atop a cylindrical post and houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) behind a clear polycarbonate lens, enclosed by horizontal metal louvers that direct light downwards and outwards across paths and driveways.

The PIR sensor detects infrared heat from people and animals within its detection range, automatically switching the light on when movement is detected and switching off after a set period of inactivity. This reduces energy consumption compared to all-night operation whilst providing illumination exactly when needed — for front paths, side passages, driveways and garden perimeters where motion-activated security lighting is wanted. The IP44 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water spray from any direction, allowing the bollard to operate year-round in exposed outdoor positions.

The 304-grade stainless steel construction offers corrosion resistance in coastal and high-humidity environments where lower-grade metals degrade faster. The powder-coated black finish adds a protective layer over the stainless steel whilst giving the bollard a contemporary matt black appearance that pairs with modern and minimalist exterior schemes. The 218mm-wide lantern head and 1000mm height suit standard residential pathways, typically spaced 3-5 metres apart for consistent coverage. The bollard fixes to a concrete or paved base via a floor-mounted flange, with the cable run concealed within the post.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does the Helsingor take?

The bollard takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-12W and 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting. A PIR sensor works with any bulb type including LED, halogen and CFL.

How does the PIR motion sensor work?

The PIR sensor detects infrared heat emitted by people and animals. When movement is detected within the sensor's range, the light switches on automatically. After a set period of no further movement, the light switches off again. Detection range and time-delay settings depend on the specific PIR module installed.

Can the Helsingor be used in coastal areas?

Yes. The 304-grade stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance suitable for coastal and high-salt environments. The powder-coated black finish adds an additional protective layer over the stainless steel, extending the lifespan in exposed conditions.

How is the bollard installed?

The Helsingor fixes to a concrete or paved base via a floor-mounted flange at the bottom of the post. The electrical cable runs up through the hollow post from the base, concealing the wiring. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with current wiring regulations.
