Description

The Emberlyte is a 20cm glass globe pendant with a polished chrome canopy and suspension cable, housing a single E27 bulb fitting. The glass sphere has a dual finish: the upper hemisphere is coated in reflective chrome on the interior surface, while the lower hemisphere remains clear, directing light downwards through transparent glass whilst reflecting light back upwards off the mirrored coating.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and breakfast bars where focused downlight is needed with decorative accent, the Emberlyte works equally well as a single pendant over a small bistro table or clustered in groups of two or three over a longer island. The 20cm diameter suits ceiling heights of 2.4m and above, typically hung 700-800mm above a worktop or dining surface. The pendant is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and E27 dimmable bulb.

The chrome-coated upper hemisphere conceals the bulb from eye level when standing, reducing glare whilst maintaining upward ambient bounce. The clear lower glass allows full light transmission downwards, making the pendant functional as task lighting whilst the visible filament or LED source inside adds decorative warmth. The polished chrome canopy and cable suspension give the fitting a contemporary finish that pairs with stainless steel appliances, brushed nickel taps and modern grey or white kitchens.

Yes, when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable E27 bulb. The dimmer type depends on whether you use LED, halogen or incandescent bulbs — LED bulbs require LED-compatible dimmers.

What bulb does it take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K, or a decorative filament-style bulb where the bulb itself is visible through the clear lower glass.

How is the chrome finish applied to the glass?

The upper hemisphere has a reflective chrome coating on the interior surface of the glass. This creates the mirrored effect whilst keeping the exterior glass smooth and easy to clean. The lower hemisphere remains uncoated clear glass.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the pendant is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It cannot be installed in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor locations.
