The Cambridge is a 2-light wall fitting in burnished brass, featuring two candle-style arms that extend from an oval backplate with beaded edge detailing. Each arm terminates in a fluted drip tray beneath a turned brass holder, taking an E14 bulb (sold separately) beneath a clear glass candle sleeve. The solid brass construction and New England-inspired proportions give the fitting a traditional character suited to period, classical and transitional interiors.

Designed for hallways, living rooms and bedroom walls where decorative and functional lighting is needed, the Cambridge sits 342mm wide by 270mm tall and projects 233mm from the wall once fitted. The two E14 sockets support bulbs up to 40W each, allowing users to choose between warm-white LED candle bulbs for ambient light or lower-wattage filament candles for a softer glow. The backplate mounts to a standard UK wall box and the wiring runs behind the oval plate.

The burnished brass finish is a warm mid-tone with subtle darkening in the recesses of the beaded details and fluted drip trays, giving depth to the metalwork under both natural and artificial light. The clear glass sleeves protect the bulbs while allowing full visibility of filament detail if decorative candle bulbs are fitted. Can this be fitted to a plasterboard wall?

Yes, provided the correct wall fixings are used. The fitting is solid brass so carries weight — use plasterboard anchors rated for the combined weight of the fixture plus bulbs, or mount to a wall stud where possible. The backplate conceals a standard UK wall box.

Is the burnished brass finish lacquered?

Hinkley brass finishes are typically lacquered to prevent tarnishing. The burnished finish has subtle darkening in recessed details which is part of the applied finish, not natural patina. Clean with a dry microfibre cloth — avoid polishes or abrasive cleaners that could damage the lacquer.

What height should this be mounted at?

Wall lights in hallways are typically centred at 1600-1800mm above floor level, placing the bulbs at roughly head height. In living rooms flanking a sofa or fireplace, centering at 1400-1600mm works well. Adjust based on ceiling height and the visual balance with surrounding furniture.
