Description
The Vilo is a 50cm LED bollard light with a dark grey cast aluminium post and a round disc-shaped head housing an integrated 8.1W LED. The opal acrylic lens at the top of the disc diffuses warm 3000K light downwards and outwards, creating a wide pool of illumination without glare. The bollard is IP65 rated, protecting the LED module and wiring against dust ingress and water jets from any direction.
Designed for pathways, driveways, garden borders and patio edges, the Vilo provides ground-level wayfinding light that enhances visibility along routes without spilling upwards into windows or neighbouring properties. The 50cm height positions the light source below typical eye level when standing, reducing glare while still casting enough reach to illuminate a 1.5-2m radius on the ground. The dark grey finish absorbs daylight rather than reflecting it, allowing the bollard to recede into landscaping during the day.
The cast aluminium construction gives the bollard weather resistance and structural rigidity for long-term outdoor installation. At 0.87kg the unit is light enough for one-person installation but heavy enough to resist wind movement once fixed to a concrete base or ground spike. The 8.1W LED delivers 361 lumens at 3000K, comparable to a 35-40W halogen in perceived brightness but drawing significantly less power. The disc head measures 20cm wide and 9cm deep, large enough to cast a broad spread without dominating the visual line of a garden bed or pathway edge.

Frequently Asked
What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?
IP65 means the bollard is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It can withstand heavy rain, garden hose spray and exposure to outdoor conditions year-round. It is not submersible and should not be installed in areas subject to flooding or standing water.
How is the Vilo installed?
The bollard requires a Class 1 earth connection and mains wiring run to the installation point. It is typically surface-mounted onto a concrete base or fixed to a ground spike, with the cable entering through the base of the post. See the assembly instruction PDF in the Downloads tab for wiring diagrams and mounting guidance.
Can the LED be replaced?
The LED module is integrated and not user-replaceable. The 8.1W LED is rated for approximately 25,000-30,000 hours of operation, equivalent to around 10-12 years at 6-8 hours per night.
What spacing is recommended for pathway lighting?
For continuous pathway illumination, space bollards 2.5-3.5m apart depending on the width of the path and desired light overlap. For accent or intermittent wayfinding light, 4-6m spacing is acceptable.
