Description
The Ulver is a 42cm optical glass table lamp with a faceted urn-shaped body cut from a single block of clear crystal glass, capped with nickel fittings at the top and a matching nickel stepped pedestal base. The lamp takes a single BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulb up to 60W, housed in the nickel fitting at the top of the glass column beneath the finial.
Designed for traditional and classical interiors, the Ulver suits bedside tables in primary bedrooms, hall console tables, and side tables in formal sitting rooms where a sculptural lamp base adds presence without occupying much surface footprint. The 20cm diameter keeps the lamp compact enough for a narrow console or bedside table whilst the 42cm height positions the shade at a useful level for reading when paired with a standard fabric shade (sold separately).
The optical glass body is faceted with vertical cuts that run the full height of the urn, creating subtle light refraction when the lamp is lit and adding visual texture when it's off. The combination of clear crystal glass and nickel gives the lamp a cooler, more formal presence than brass or bronze equivalents, pairing well with silver-toned hardware, grey upholstery and monochrome schemes. At 4kg the lamp has sufficient weight to resist tipping on carpeted or polished surfaces.
The nickel fittings show the metal in its natural state rather than plated — a softer, warmer tone than polished chrome with less reflective shine. Over time nickel may develop a light patina; this is a characteristic of the material and can be polished back if preferred.

Frequently Asked
Does the Ulver come with a shade?
No. The lamp is supplied as the glass base and nickel fittings only. A separate fabric shade with a BC fitting ring is needed. The 20cm base diameter typically pairs with a 25-30cm diameter shade depending on the shape.
What bulb does it take?
The Ulver takes a BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED filament bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for bedside or hall table use.
How is the optical glass cleaned?
Wipe the faceted glass with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water, then dry immediately. Avoid household glass cleaners or sprays that may leave residue in the facet lines.
Is the nickel finish lacquered?
Nickel fittings are typically unlacquered, which means the metal may develop a light patina over time. This can be polished back with a metal polish if preferred, or left to age naturally for a softer, warmer tone.
