Description

The Terras is a set of three fibreclay planters finished in antique beige, with vertical ribbed texture running from base to rim on each piece. Fibreclay is a composite of fibreglass and resin-bonded clay that gives the weight and surface finish of terracotta while remaining lighter and more weather-resistant. The three sizes — 22x25cm, 32x37cm, and 44x50cm (diameter x height) — nest visually when grouped or spread across a terrace, patio or interior floor.

Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the planters suit balconies, patios, courtyards, conservatories and interior floors in living rooms, hallways or offices. The largest size handles mid-sized shrubs, olive trees or bay standards; the medium fits herbs, grasses or seasonal bedding; the smallest suits succulents, cacti or trailing plants. The fibreclay construction resists cracking from frost and UV fade better than ceramic or terracotta, though drainage holes may need drilling depending on planting method.

The ribbed surface texture is formed in the mould rather than applied by hand, so the ribs run consistently around each planter without variation between pieces. The antique beige finish has a matte surface with subtle tonal variation suggesting aged clay. The combined weight of the set is 13.18kg when empty, giving stability on exposed sites without requiring additional ballast for most planting applications.

Frequently Asked

Are these planters frost-resistant?

The fibreclay construction resists frost cracking better than terracotta or ceramic. However, in areas with prolonged sub-zero temperatures, moving planters under cover or ensuring good drainage reduces the risk of ice expansion damage.

Do the planters have drainage holes?

Drainage holes are not pre-drilled. For planted arrangements requiring drainage, holes can be drilled using a masonry bit. Alternatively, use the planters as decorative outer pots with a separate draining inner pot.

What's the difference between fibreclay and terracotta?

Fibreclay is a composite of fibreglass and resin-bonded clay. It weighs less than terracotta, resists weathering and UV fade better, and is less prone to chipping. Terracotta is porous fired clay — heavier, more fragile, and requires sealing for outdoor use in wet climates.

Can these be used indoors?

Yes. The matte beige finish and ribbed texture suit contemporary, Mediterranean and organic interiors. Without drainage holes drilled, they function as decorative outer pots for houseplants in plastic nursery pots.
